How recognition works for your practice

1. You're listed by default

Every California-licensed dentist in our directory starts as Listed. No paywall to be present. Absence of an elevated tier is never a negative signal.

2. Elevation is algorithmic

Your Verified Performance Score across nine axes — and clinical grades by subspecialty — is computed from practice-published rates, NPPES data, opt-in patient surveys, and confirmed patient submissions, all reviewed by the Editorial Council.

3. The audit trail is yours

Every tier change is logged with timestamp, inputs, and reviewer. Request your audit trail any time at council@thedentist.ai.

The Dentist Apprentice OS (preview)

Beyond recognition, the Apprentice OS is our practice-side product: scheduling helpers, patient-facing intake that respects HIPAA, AI-assisted clinical workflows reviewed under SB 1120, and FuseBase-style portals for continuity of care. Production access opens to Editorial Council–endorsed practices first.

An invitation-only forum for verified clinicians: case discussion, methodology feedback, recognition appeals. Editorial Council moderates; nothing is paid placement, no patient PHI is permitted.

What we will never do

Accept payment for tier elevation or directory rank.
Display star ratings or negative-review aggregation.
Surface AI clinical determinations without human review.
Pass patient PHI to third-party AI vendors without a BAA.
Imply patient volume, "reactivation," or marketing-style claims about any council member's clinical practice.
